Your boss wants to outsmart you
They've figured out that public layoffs can be a PR nightmare, so they're opting for something a bit more hush-hush..
Hello Buddy,
Word on the street is.. bosses seem to have cracked the code on how to quietly nudge employees out the door without making noise. They've figured out that public layoffs can be a PR nightmare, so they're opting for something a bit more hush-hush.
Something called Quiet Firing!
In case you didn’t know, quiet firing is when your boss subtly makes your job less appealing, hoping you'll pack your bags and leave on your own instead of them having to kick you out the door or deal with layoffs.
It's been happening for ages now, but research says it's about to become even more common this year!
My dear, you’re probably being quiet fired (or should I say fired quietly) if:
You're working your ass off, but all you hear are crickets when it comes to feedback or recognition.
Your 1:1s are getting canceled more often than not.
You feel like you're getting left out of the loop—no invite to work on cool projects or team events.
Your workload mysteriously lightens or becomes overwhelming without explanation.
Your boss is all up in your business, micromanaging or giving harsh performance reviews.
Your opinions/contributions don’t count.
Your manager has dumped unreasonable KPIs or performance targets on your laps.
Your manager has stopped talking to you about your career trajectory.
You're losing perks like working from home or access to training opportunities.
Hmm. So, how do you ‘quietfire-proof’ your career?
First, I’ll say don't jump to conclusions. Assess whether it's just you or if everyone's feeling the heat. Then, take charge. Have an honest chat with your managers, address the weirdness, and demand clarity. If things don't improve or you're feeling stuck, maybe it's time to spread your wings and explore new opportunities.
Remember, you're the boss of your career. Don't let anyone dull your shine or try to pull a fast one on you o
