Hello, Buddy!
There’s not a lot to talk about today, I just need the space to rant please:
This fuel price wahala is not getting funny again😏
You should have seen me yesterday😩 a whole babe and more trekking Lagos roads because of t.fare. I couldn't even do the Korean restaurant I'd been planning to go to since payday! 😭
Mtchew! 😏
Meanwhile, I have a solution to all of these and you are the best person to make it happen!
So the thing is this: As the innovative and talented professional that you are, I’m putting a startup challenge to you. At this juncture, my darling, I think we need to take a pause on creating more Fintechs. That flying broom thingy won't be a bad startup idea if you ask me.
…Because why will I suddenly go from paying N1000 to N2000 for the same distance because of fuel price? Who am I? Just a humble Gen Z trying to surpass Elon Musk on these crazy corporate streets…
If you have to draw up a contract and partner with the "big mummies & daddies" already doing it on the village people scale, please do. That's what great tech founders do anyway —pull expertise together to come up with something good.
See ehn, we have a special newsletter for founders and employers o (which you should share with those you know by the way😎), but I'm writing this to you because I know you have that creativity and leadership acumen, and I hope this startles you to always be on your toes and think of crazy ideas that would mark you as that outstanding professional and potential leader.
Leadership aside, I think what makes an outstanding employee or a self-employed professional is the ability to come up with crazy ideas, to do things differently, to take ownership of your role such that you're constantly thinking outside the box.
Yes, thinking outside the box is valid. I don't intend to sound aspire-to-pespire-ish though.
And this is not necessarily some lemon-to-lemonade thing; big ideas don't have to be birthed when the organization finds itself in a quagmire.
In the words of my team lead: I need you to constantly think, what can we do about this? What's the next step? Okay, this has happened, what can we do?
Or in the words of my CEO: This is good already, how can we make it better?
Crazy ideas are crazy because they may not make sense at first. Heck, they may not even work out eventually. But the point is to keep thinking, keep challenging the usual, and be creative in bringing solutions or suggestions for the next levels or bigger feats.
In other words, we could call this being intrapreneurial with work. This article describes intrapreneurship like this: An intrapreneur shares many of the same qualities as an entrepreneur, but instead of turning their ideas into startups, they work within their employer's company. With a focus on innovation, an intrapreneur can do much to drive the company's success.
And here’s a secret: nothing enchants your employer like this quality. Trust me!
Another secret: our flagship event, Workitout with CareerBuddy is a good example of this…🤗 Send gist funds and I’d give you all the tea!
So, Buddy, if you have plans of becoming a startup founder, don't do Fintech or any other already existing tech abeg. They are great and unmatchable, no doubt! But how long do we have to keep suffering from transport wahala? Consider my proposition.
But much more, challenge yourself to be entrepreneurial with your work this week.
And consider me, your favorite career buddy! A happening babe and more shouldn't be broke because of fuel prices na😩
Think about it, and have a great week!
Wait, how far: how have you been coping since the past week? Were you allowed to work remotely? Were you given a transportation allowance? What’s the highest you’ve had to spend on fuel or going to work? Gist me!
